DFA Kali Instructor requirements

There are 6 levels in the Instructor Program (New as of January 2020)

Affiliate Instructor – An accomplished student of who has displayed the skills, understanding, and character to earn a recommendation as a source of training in DFA Kali.  Affiliate Instructors are typically experienced certified instructors of other martial arts systems, have gone through the DFA Kali Online Course (Levels 1-6) and have received the Online Certification, but have not been tested by video or in person by a certified instructor of DFA Kali.  At their discretion, they may include as much or as little of the DFA Kali curriculum as they wish in their teaching; however, they are considered a source of accurate and reliable information for the DFA Kali system.
No Test Needed

Basic Instructor – A practitioner who has successfully video tested for proficiency in DFA Kali Levels 1-6 (the equivalent of a 1st deg black belt) and has displayed the knowledge, understanding, and ability to teach the system accurately and faithfully.  These instructors, though not restricted in their teaching, are capable of presenting their DFA Kali in its original form without signification deviation.
Video Test Required 

Core Instructor – A practitioner who has successfully tested for proficiency in DFA Kali up to Level 9 (the equivalent of a 2nd deg black belt) A Core Instructor may promote students up to their own level.
Video or Live – in Person Test Required

Full Instructor – A practitioner who has successfully tested for proficiency in DFA Kali up to Level 9  AND Empty Hand vs Knife and Karambit.  He should have also completed the DFA Instructor Training Program and has thoroughly mastered both the physical skills and teaching methodology of the system.  A Full Instructor may promote students up to their own level (the equivalent of a 3rd level black belt)
Video or Live – in Person Test Required (Need to pass Core Instructor level first)

Advanced Instructor – You must have passed everything up to Full Instructor level and completed the Knife vs Knife and Single Stick courses.  (4th deg black belt)
Live – in Person Test Required

Master Instructor – A practitioner who has received Advanced Instructor rankings in all of the DFA Kali subsystems (hand to hand, joint locking, dumog, single stick, double stick, knife, karambit, staff & gun).  A Master Instructor is capable of teaching the complete DFA Kali curriculum and may promote students to the level of Advanced Instructor.
Master Instructor is 5th degree 
Live – in Person Test Required
