Online Courses
More Information
I know that there may be some confusion about what is going on with the Online Course platform.
Believe me, I'm as confused about the new rules that Teachable has implemented as you are.
Starting August 01, 2023 Teachable (the site that we have used since 2016) has decided that you can no longer have more than 5 courses in your 'school'.
We currently have 21 courses so that means that they will arbitrarily be 'unlisting' 16 of our courses.
What does this mean for you?
When a course becomes 'unlisted' it can no longer be seen in our school. It's still there, but no one can see it except the people who are already enrolled. If you are already enrolled in it you will still be able to access it.
Being unlisted means that no one can purchase the course in the future.
Obviously this is unacceptable to us. Not only can students not enroll in advanced courses, but we can no longer add any NEW courses to the school.
So we were forced to find another place to host our video courses. After 4 months of work we have everything moved to the new platform, Thinkific. We are currently adding new courses starting with our 'Retro Series.'
These are our old Kung Fu videos from when we first started bringing the courses online. We are updating the video and audio as best we can along with adding closed captions/sub titles. Some of these haven't been seen in over a decade.
What do you need to do?
You have 2 choices:
1) You can do nothing and stay where you are (Teachable). Nothing will change for you except you can not purchase any more courses.
2) You can re-sign up on the New platform (Thinkific) and we will MANUALLY add all of the courses that you are currently enrolled in. You will lose nothing and of course there is no additional fee, after all it's not your fault. Just give us a day or two as none of this is automated.
This is inconvenient for all of us, but when a company decides to get greedy we all suffer.
